Medway Culture Fest 24

Celebrating creativity and community

This is Medway Culture Fest 2024; a year-long programme of cultural activity celebrating our community’s creativity and rich history. Experience the best that Medway has to offer, from large-scale spectacles to community events and so much more.

Share your experiences with us using the hashtag #MedwayFest24 Explore the Programme

2024 is a big year for Medway! 40 years ago, Medway African and Caribbean Association was formed and we saw the start of the former Royal Dockyard regeneration, turning it into a thriving heritage site, university campus and community we see today.

In celebration, Medway Culture Fest 24 invites locals and visitors to explore Medway’s story as we open up our community spaces for a year of creative events and activities. There’s something for everyone; from arts festival and shows, to community-run projects and free events for the whole family.

You can read more about what inspired the festival and who’s been involved in shaping it here.

In the Autumn Icon Theatre’s spectacular new production Ghost Ships will tell the story of the extraordinary people who built and sailed the ships of Chatham Dockyard around the world.  Locals are invited to join the community cast of 150 local residents performing alongside professional dancers, young people aged 8-25 can also get involved through Icon’s backstage technical training and mentoring programme which will offer paid work experience on the production.
